Ivan is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu 1st Degree Black Belt under Carlson Gracie, Jr. Professor Ivan Rios is a volunteer instructor at Trident Academy in Woodbridge, VA and he teaches BJJ Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30PM.

During his 18 years in law enforcement, Mr. Rios obtained certification as Firearms, Defensive and Tactical & Raids Instructor. In Addition, Mr. Rios worked as a law enforcement instructor and took advance courses in SWAT, SRT, Executive Protection, Tactical Medicine First Responder and Advance Combat Rifle/Carbine School.
Military Experience
Mr. Rios served in the U.S. Navy as a Special Boat Team Operator (Maritime Special Operations) and in the U.S. Army as a Tactical Intelligence Officer. He is also a veteran of the 1991 Persian Gulf War.
Education
Mr. Rios also completed a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration and a Master’s of Art degree in Criminal Justice Management.
Mr. Rios is also fluent in Spanish.
